Alabama First Class Pre-K Now Accepting Applications for the 2019-2020 School Year
MONTGOMERY, Ala. — The Alabama Department of Early Childhood Education is now accepting pre-registration applications for the state’s high-quality, voluntary First Class Pre-K program for the 2019-2020 school year. All children who will be four years old on September 1, 2019 are eligible, however, due to the limited number of First Class Pre-K classrooms located across the state, random drawings are used to select participants. Applicants must pre-register for the program’s random selection process by completing the online form located at https://alprek.asapconnected.com.
“Alabama’s First Class Pre-K program has been recognized for 12 years in a row as the highest quality state-funded pre-kindergarten program in the country,” said Jeana Ross, Secretary of the Alabama Department of Early Childhood Education. “Although participation in the First Class Pre-K program is voluntary, we anticipate more families will register this year than state funding will allow us to enroll. If you are interested in enrolling your child in the First Class Pre-K program, it is critically important that you submit your child’s name and information through our portal before your preferred classroom holds its random selection drawing this Spring.”
The deadline to pre-register for a spot in an Alabama First Class Pre-K classroom varies by location. Please contact your preferred First Class Pre-K provider to learn when it will hold its random selection drawing. A complete list of First Class Pre-K classrooms can be found at: http://children.alabama.gov/parents-families/findprek/
