Parent Involvement Checkup

How Do You Rate?

Here are some examples of how you can be involved.  Rate your involvement as you see it.  If there are two adults in the household, combine your ratings and come up with one number.  Rate 1-5, with "1" being low or not true, and "5" being high and true.

·                  ___  I know my children's teachers by name.

·                  ___  I know my children's class schedule.

·                  ___  I attend conferences scheduled to give me information about my children.

·                  ___  I initiate contact with the teachers about my children.

·                  ___  I follow-up on messages which the teacher sends me about my children or the school.

·                  ___  I attend school functions which involve my children.

·                  ___  I attend PTO or other parent-teacher meetings.

·                  ___  I try to help my children in a positive way with their homework.

·                  ___  I look over and express concern for my children's work which they bring home.

·                  ___  I try to send my children to school clean, rested, and well fed.

·                  ___  I spend some time in my children's classrooms as a volunteer.

·                  ___  I take my children to the library or other places to help in educating them.

Now let's add up the scores:

48-60  You're doing super!

27-47 Good effort.  You are really trying.

15-26 Needs attention.

0-14  Really needs attention.  But there is always hope.
