Morning Plan

In order to have more orderly mornings and to reduce the possibility of inappropriate activities, faculty and staff at West Blocton High School worked this summer to create a new plan for student entry at the beginning of the school day:

  1. Bus riders will go into the cafeteria as they arrive.  These students may eat breakfast or sit quietly.  At 7:30 students may exit to the gym.

  1. Car riders will be allowed in the building front door at 7:30 unless there is bad weather.  If there is bad weather, students will be allowed into the lunchroom (with supervision)  and dismissed at 7:30. Car riders who wish to eat breakfast may enter the cafeteria through the bus entrance where the buses unload.

  1. Students who need to come in early to do make-up work or get help will need to obtain a pass from the teacher the day before.

  1. The drop-off route has been changed so that students will be let off at the front door.  We have routed the cars down to the road between the student parking lot and middle school.  They then drive up the road that runs next to the high school and exit through the entrance..  This is to enable better supervision of students who are outside and increase the safety of buses exiting the lower gate.

We evaluate all of our programs continually and we will do the same for this one.  We will look at the traffic patterns outside and adjust, if necessary.
