How to make the ID: look like earthworms, slender, segmented

Its Color: reddish, brown, or grey

How it reproduces: hermaphroditic (both male and female reproductive organs) , similar to earth worms; fertilization and  development of embryos occur in a cocoon.

Metamorphosis: None

It is food for: bottom feeders and fish

Its food: they eat large quantities of mud and filter out organic debris

Indicator: found in muddy bottoms, large numbers indicate poor water quality

Size: up to 3 inches
