Authorities have been called to the local river. Mysterious organisms called macroinvertebrates have been found on the scene. What does this mean? CSI: Cahaba Student Investigators have been asked to solve the case. Suspects have been identified. Evidence has been collected. |
| Do you think your local river is clean? Do you know how to find the answer to this question? We created this site because we want to make sure people know that rivers and streams aren't just for fishing, boating, and picnics. They are more important than you think. |

We are going to investigate the health of a local stream by using macroinvertebrates to tell us about water quality. These little creatures called macroinvertebrates are aquatic insects, snails, worms, and other aquatic organisms. You will learn that this is a project kids can do that is both educational and FUN!

Some people don't care if the water is polluted, but we do! If you are in 4th, 5th, or 6th grade, this website will show you how easy it is for you to learn to monitor your local waterway !
