How to make the ID: long body with 3  tails that look like paddles, but are actually gills; six legs located near the front of the body, two large eyes on the top of the head. Adults have long abdomens; two pairs of wings that are held upright at rest.

Its Color: Nymph - green, brown, black. Adults are colorful in greens, blues, and reds.

How it reproduces: deposits eggs on top of water and they drift to the bottom.

Metamorphosis: Incomplete

Its food: Other aquatic macroinvertebrates.

Indicator: varies in tolerance, found in slower moving water.

Size: up to 2 inches in length.
