“Purple Pride” Marching Band - This is the major performing group at BCHS, which includes the Majorettes and Golden Girls. This band is open to select 8th graders and all 9th through 12th grade BCHS band students. The marching band is a co-curricular group, meaning that participation is required for any student in the band program. This group is the most time and commitment demanding music ensemble. Rehearsals begin in the summer and when school starts, rehearsals are after school. This band performs at all BCHS football games (home and away) and participates in (usually) three competitions each fall (on Saturdays).
Symphonic Band - This band is open to all 9th through 12th grade BCHS students in the band program. The groups perform several times during the school year, typically performing concerts in December, March, and May. The group will participate in ABA/MENC Concert Festival. These classes are graded in conjunction with marching band and students earn credit toward graduation.
Percussion Ensemble - This class is only open to select 8th grade and all 9th through 12th grade BCHS percussion students. The groups performs with the "Purple Pride" Marching Band, Symphonic Band, Indoor Percussion Competition, and Percussion Ensemble Concerts.
Golden Girls (Danceline) and Majorettes - Membership in this group is by audition only. Individuals must have completed Beginner Band and at least one year of "Purple Pride" Marching Band. The individual must have marched in the Marching Band the previous marching season. All members participate in all auxiliary and Band functions such as performances, practices, competitions, parades, and all special events. Clinic and Auditions will be held in the spring semester for this group.
